Cape Hatteras Lighthouse

This painting by Hugh Daniel of the Cape Hatteras lighthouse in North Carolina is a 16″ x 8″ acrylic painting on stretched canvas and is varnished with satin varnish for protection and long-life. Signed in lower right.

The appealing part of doing this painting was the contrast of light and dark, and of shadows. Also the strength of the base through stonework and the red walls. The vertical aspect of the canvas emphasizes the height and visual impact of this historical landmark. It was the first lighthouse that I’d seen in my younger days, so remains my favorite.
