Description

At one time, Bellevue and the Harpeth River Valley area near Nashville, Tennessee was known as “Mastodon Valley” because of the great Mastodon fossils found here. So this Mastodon painting is a tribute to that – one of many paintings of prehistoric animals either completed or in the works.

Mastodons inhabited North and Central America during the late Miocene or late Pliocene up to their extinction at the end of the Pleistocene 10,000 to 11,000 years ago. Living in herds, they were predominantly forest-dwelling animals with a mixed diet filled by browsing and grazing, somewhat similar to their distant relatives, modern elephants.

Despite the superficial resemblance, mastodons were distinct from mammoths. Mastodon were shorter and stockier than mammoths with shorter, straighter tusks.

Also available as a print, canvas wrap, or archival metal plate, all printed in the United States by a long-established specialty printer. Not available as an NFT. All rights to the artwork, whether digital or as physical reproductions, are retained by the artist.

Shipping for the original painting will be within 3 to 4 business days, carefully packaged to protect the canvas. Shipping of other media selections will have an interval of from 7 to 10 business days, with holiday shipping intervals possibly being longer.
