Description

This Sandpiper is 5″x7″ drawing on tan paper drawn with both white and black charcoal, matted in a white 8″x10″ mat. It’s mainly just fun to do quick little drawings like this. Not sure why, but using charcoal and a smudge stick for shading seems to make a drawing go really quickly. Maybe it’s because I don’t erase and start over – once the charcoal is down, it’s going to stay. In acrylic painting, I work slowly, but with charcoal, it’s a fast, spontaneous, impulse-driven drawing. Refreshing.
